Home Building Compensation Fund
Formerly known as Home Warranty Insurance, Home Building Compensation Fund insurance (HBCF) needs to be provided by most builders or contractors before taking any money (including a deposit) from a home owner (including an owner-builder).
This applies under any residential building contract where the contract price is above $20,000.
